WCU Plants Tree In Honor of Chinese Students

Vice president for advancement and church relations at William Carey University, Dr. Scott Hummel, and some of the university's Chinese students planted a Chinese Golden Rain Tree in celebration of the growing number of Chinese students who attend the university. The tree also acknowledges the faculty and student exchange partnership WCU and China’s Linyi University established in 2007. The tree is located near the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine.


On Friday, January 20, (left to right) Yi “Bill” Sun, a senior English major from Weifang, China; Dr. Scott Hummel, vice president for institutional advancement and church relations; Shujun “Luna” Liu, a junior business administration major from Linyi, China; Rachel Charpie, a junior music therapy major from Citronelle, Ala.; Yanan “Nancy” Zhang, a junior English major from Weifang, China; Jing Hao “Leslie” Lin, a freshman English major from Linyi, China; and Boning “Bonni” Li, a freshman psychology major from Linyi, China, plant the Chinese Golden Rain Tree on WCU’s campus on January 20.
